On the day of Lakshmi Narayan Puja, devotees wake up early, take a holy bath, and clean their home and worship area. An idol or image of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi is placed on a clean and decorated altar. The puja samagri includes a kalash, Gangajal, rice grains (akshat), turmeric, vermilion, sandalwood paste, flowers (especially lotus or yellow flowers), incense sticks, dhoop, camphor, oil or ghee lamps, fruits, sweets, grains, coins, and satvik food. Tulsi leaves are especially important in the worship of Lord Vishnu.

During the puja, Vishnu and Lakshmi mantras are chanted with devotion, followed by the recitation of Lakshmi Narayan Katha and aarti. Devotees pray for righteous wealth, family harmony, protection from negativity, and spiritual wisdom. Charity, feeding the poor, and helping those in need are considered essential parts of the puja, as generosity pleases Goddess Lakshmi.
