Balarama Jayanti is a sacred Hindu festival celebrated to mark the birth of Lord Balarama, the elder brother of Lord Krishna and an incarnation of Sheshnag. Lord Balarama represents strength, discipline, righteousness, agriculture, and moral values. He is also known as Baldev, Haladhara, and Sankarshan. Balarama Jayanti is observed mainly in Vaishnava traditions and is considered highly auspicious for seeking physical strength, mental stability, and spiritual discipline.

On this holy day, devotees wake up early, take a purifying bath, and clean their homes and worship places. An idol or picture of Lord Balarama holding a plough (hala) and mace (gada) is placed on a clean altar or wooden chowki. The puja samagri includes a copper or brass kalash, pure water, Gangajal, Panchamrit (milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar), rice grains (akshat), turmeric, vermilion, sandalwood paste, flowers, flower garlands, Tulsi leaves, incense sticks, dhoop, camphor, and ghee or oil lamps.

Bhog offerings usually consist of fruits, coconut, sweets, jaggery, kheer, butter, and other satvik food items prepared with purity. Devotees chant Balarama mantras, Vishnu stotras, and listen to Balarama Katha during the puja. Many followers observe fasting or partial fasting as a mark of devotion and self-control.

Buddha Purnima Puja, also known as Vesak, is a sacred festival that marks the birth, enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana of Gautama Buddha. It is observed on the full moon day (Purnima) in the month of Vaishakha (April–May). This day holds great spiritual importance for Buddhists and many Hindus, as Lord Buddha is considered an incarnation of Lord Vishnu in Hindu tradition.

Buddha Purnima Puja symbolizes peace, compassion, non-violence, and wisdom. Devotees gather in temples and monasteries to offer prayers and meditate. The teachings of Buddha focus on the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path, guiding individuals toward liberation from suffering and attainment of inner peace.

On Buddha Purnima, devotees wake up early, take a holy bath, and visit temples. An image or statue of Lord Buddha is placed on a decorated altar. The puja samagri includes flowers (especially white lotus), incense sticks, candles or lamps, fruits, sweets, rice, and water. Devotees offer flowers and light lamps as symbols of enlightenment and purity. Chanting Buddhist sutras and reciting prayers are important parts of the celebration.

Acts of kindness and charity are highly emphasized on this day. People donate food, clothes, and money to the poor and release birds or animals as a symbol of compassion. Many observe fasting or follow simple vegetarian meals.

Yagyopaveet Sanskar Puja, also known as Upanayan Sanskar, is one of the most important Hindu rites of passage. This sacred ceremony marks the spiritual initiation of a child into disciplined learning, moral responsibility, and Vedic education. During this sanskar, the child is adorned with the Yagyopaveet, or sacred thread, which symbolizes purity, self-control, knowledge, and commitment to dharma. The puja begins with purification rituals and preparation of the worship area. A havan kund is established, and sacred fire is ignited with ghee, samidha, and havan samagri. The main puja samagri includes Yagyopaveet (sacred thread), deer skin or cloth, danda (staff), kamandalu (water pot), copper or brass kalash, Gangajal, pure water, Panchamrit, rice grains, barley, sesame seeds, flowers, incense sticks, dhoop, camphor, and ghee lamps. Special mantras and offerings are made into the fire to seek divine blessings.

A significant part of Yagyopaveet Sanskar is the chanting of Gayatri Mantra, which is taught to the child by the guru or priest. This marks the child’s entry into spiritual learning and self-discipline. The child takes vows to follow truth, respect elders, practice self-control, and pursue knowledge with dedication. After the havan, bhog such as fruits, sweets, and satvik food is offered, and prasad is distributed.

Sankranti Puja is a sacred Hindu observance performed when the Sun moves from one zodiac sign (Rashi) to another. This solar transition is called Sankranti and is considered highly auspicious for spiritual practices, charity, and worship. There are twelve Sankrantis in a year, but some, like Makar Sankranti, hold special importance. Sankranti Puja is mainly dedicated to Surya Dev, the divine source of light, energy, and life.

Sankranti Puja symbolizes renewal, transformation, and the continuous cycle of time. Devotees perform this puja to seek good health, prosperity, spiritual purification, and protection from negativity. It is believed that worshipping the Sun during Sankranti brings success, positive energy, and divine blessings.

Offering Arghya (water mixed with flowers and rice) to the rising Sun while chanting Surya mantras is the main ritual. The puja samagri includes water, rice grains (akshat), turmeric, red or yellow flowers, incense sticks, dhoop, camphor, oil or ghee lamps, sesame seeds, jaggery, fruits, and sweets.

Charity is an essential part of Sankranti Puja. Donating food, clothes, sesame seeds, or helping the poor is considered highly meritorious. Devotees maintain purity, gratitude, and discipline throughout the day.
